Abstract

778,620. Transformers. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. April 11, 1956 [April 21, 1955], No. 11004/56. Class 38 (2). [Also in Group XXXVII] In a transformer tap-changer, successive portions of the secondary winding 20 are cut out of circuit by the successive bridging of pairs of contacts by a bridging member 36. In action (see Group XXXVII) continuous rotation of a shaft causes the member 36 to be lifted clear of its contacts, and then rotated till it is opposite the next pair, after which it is moved longitudinally into engagement with them, and so on.
