Abstract

1,172,312. Transformers. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. 1 Feb., 1967 [2 Feb., 1966], No. 4934/67. Heading H1T. A tap-changing circuit for transformers comprises tap selector switches 2, 3 connected to contacts 4, 5 and 11, 12 of switches 6, 10, respectively, in parallel, an impedance 8 being included in the circuit between switch 6 and the neutral point 9 and a vacuum switch 13 being included in the circuit between switch 10 and the neutral point. 9. Initially the switches are in the positions shown in Fig. 1. To change from tap 2 to tap 3 contact 7 of the first changeover switch is connected to contact 5. Vacuum switch 13 is then opened so that the load current flows to the common point via impedance 8. Changeover switch 10 is now actuated to connect with contact 12. Finally vacuum switch 13 is closed again to give direct connection from tap 3 to common point 9. For higher switching powers more than one vacuum switch may be used in circuit. The changeover switches may be actuated mechanically or pneumatically, and the vacuum switch may alternatively be actuated electromagnetically when the magnet winding may be used as the impedance 8 in place of a resistor.
