Abstract

519,793. Hay-making. BLACKSTONE, E. E. Oct. 3, 1938, No. 28679. [Class 6 (iii)] The tines 13 of a swath-turner are pivoted to a carrier disc 1 rotating about a fixed shaft 2 and are raised and lowered by links 16 connected to a second disc 9 rotating about an off-set continuation 8 of the shaft 2. The discs 1, 9 are connected by links 11, so that when the disc 1 is driven by bevel gearing 5, 4, the disc 9 is also caused to rotate. The points between the tines 13, the links 16 and the discs 1, 9 are sufficiently loose to allow the tines to make a substantially horizontal sweep and to follow inequalities of the ground. The machine may be provided with two swath-turning heads as described. Specification 17604/02, [Class 6], is referred to.
