Abstract

517,734. Valves. McEWEN, W. A. D. July 27, 1938, No. 22324. [Class 135] Relates to ball-cock &c. valves in which an auxiliary valve 20, Fig. 1, operates to seal the supply passage under fluid pressure when the main valve 13 is removed for repairs &c. The auxiliary valve which has a stem 21 bearing against the main valve, has its head and stem grooved or fluted, as shown in Fig. 4, to allow a free passage of the fluid. Alternatively, the valve may have a square head and. a triangular stem for the same purpose, or the stem may be hollow and provided with radial passages.
