513,640. Making cathodes. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., GOOD - CHILD, F. D., BLACK, D. H., and FOULKES, C. H. March 11, 1938, No. 7648. [Class 83 (ii)] [Also in Group XL] An indirectly heated tubular cathode for an electron discharge device is formed by bending back into parallel relation two or more radially extending arms of a sheet metal blank. To obtain a tubular cathode, each arm is curved. In the form shown in Fig. 5, cuts are made in the central part of a star-shaped blank and the tongues' 7 are bent in one direction and the limbs in the other direction to form a cathode as shown in Fig. 6, the tongues serving to support the cathode on a mica bridge 6. In a modification, the ends of the limb are cut and bent to serve for fixing.
