Abstract
467,025. Discharge lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and HARRIS, N. L. Dec. 9, 1935, No. 34064. [Class 39 (i)] In lamps, more particularly those having a U-shaped discharge tube 1, wherein an openended sheath 14 is interposed between the discharge tube and an outer closed envelope 2, the sheath is supported from a foot tube 8 on the envelope either by wires sealed in the foot tube 8 or from a band 11 surrounding that tube. Springs 15, 16, 17 space the sheath from the envelope and springs 18, 19, such as described in Specification 464,343, are used to hold the tube 1 within the sheath. In manufacture the inner discharge tube and sheath are first mounted on the foot-tube and then introduced into the envelope 2, the foot tube being afterwards sealed to the envelope.
