Abstract

July 29, 1930, No. 22855. Convention date, Oct. 28, 1929. Addition to 315,391, 317,758, and 338,844. [all in Class 39 (i), Electric lamps, Arc &c.]. [Class 39 (i).] In a lamp having a hollow conducting guide member for guiding the discharge according to the parent Specification, or to that Specification as modified by either of the patents of addition, the guide member 8, Fig. 1, is supported in the envelope by rings 13, each ring consisting of two or more rings of mica mounted between metal rings 12, Fig. 3. The rings 12 abut against a flanged endplate 10 mounted on the guide member 8. The edges of the mica rings are formed with slits angularly displaced from each other, so that the rings form a close fit with the envelope and prevent the passage of a discharge over the outside of the guide member. Grooves may be formed in the envelope to receive the rings. The filling may be of gas or vapour.
