Abstract

476,190. Discharge lamps. SIEMENS ELECTRIC LAMPS & SUPPLIES, Ltd., and ALDINGTON, J. N. July 13, 1936, No. 19380. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] A cooled high-pressure lamp has electrodes which during normal operation consist of mercury and cover the leading-in wires which are provided with electron-emissive tips. The initial discharge may occur between the exposed tips which may be wrapped in tungsten wire and dipped into a solution of barium azide. The vapour pressure exceeds one atmosphere and may reach 100 atmospheres. Cooling fluid may flow through an outer jacket and sealing may be effected in the manner described in Specification 474,394, [Group XXXVI]. Dimensions of a lamp are included in the Specification.
