Abstract

509,132. Bicycle supports. SCHICHT, R. Feb. 11, 1939, No. 4545. Convention date, Feb. 11, 1938. [Class 136 (i)] A support or prop 15 for a bicycle is carried by a member 5 rotatably mounted on a disc 8, which is secured, e.g. by a nut 11 and a washer 12, to the rear wheel axle 3 and is provided with a device such as a notch 9 adapted to engage a complementary formation on the member 5 to hold the prop in the lowered or operative position. The member 5 is formed with an elongated aperture 6 engaging the disc 8, and a projection 7 at the lower end of this aperture engages the notch 9 in the disc when the prop is lowered. The prop 15 is pivoted at 17 to the lower end of the member 5, and is pressed outwards by a blade spring 21 riveted at 20 to the member 5, an inwardlybent stop lug 19 engaging the member 5 to limit the outward movement of the prop. The prop is held in the raised or inoperative position by the engagement of a clasp 22, Figs. 1 and 3, with a frame member or a mudguard stay 23, the pressure of the spring 21 retaining the clasp in engagement.
