Abstract

252,644. Ashby, F. Feb. 25, 1926. Supports attached to cycles. - In stands for motor and other cycles &c. of the type in which the legs 1 of the stand are pivoted at 6 to plates 2 attached on each side to the rear wheel spindle 4 or other part of the machine, the plates 2 are each stamped or pressed from a single metal blank, and are provided with an integral pressed up portion 10 adapted to constitute the stop for the legs of the stand. Each plate is formed with a hole to engage over the wheel spindle 4, and with an integral inwardly-directed lug 7 to fit into the chain-adjustment slot 8 in the chain stay, for the purpose of preventing the plate from turning about the spindle 4. The springs 13 for retaining the stand in its operative and inoperative positions are secured to a laterally-projecting pin 12 on each plate. When the stand is in. its horizontal inoperative position, a lug 14 at the upperend of each leg engages the top of the stop 10.
