Abstract

914. Wedekind, W. C. Jan, 31. Supports or stands for cycles &c. comprise a stirrup 1 encompassing the wheel so that, when the support is in use, the wheel is raised from the ground, and the support is held in position by means to be released either by a key or a trigger. The support is mounted by a bracket 6 upon the rear-wheel axle and the fork member 13, and, as shown in Fig. 3, when a bolt 2 is released by the operation of a trigger 4 or by the insertion of a key at 3, the support is drawn rearwards by a spring 10 until the bolt takes into the upper notch of the arm 8. The spring and arm 8 may, however, be dispensed with, and, when not required, the support is then turned round to lie adjacent the fork, to which it is secured by a clip or the like. The lock may be upon the bracket 6, and the notch upon the stirrup; the bracket may, moreover, form part of the.frame. A stop is provided to prevent the stirrup from being drawn too far by the spring 10.
