464,253. Cycle - supports; locking cycles. LIPOLD, V. Sept. 17, 1936, No. 25369. Convention date, Sept. 18, 1935. [Classes 79 (iii) and 136 (i)] A stand for supporting a wheel of a cycle carries a lock which serves both to lock the stand to the frame of the cycle and to lock the wheel against rotation. A U-shaped support 8, provided at the bottom with two spikes to engage the ground, is pivoted on the wheel axle 12 by means of a sleeve, and is provided with an extension 24 carrying a lock 6, Figs. 7 and 8, which in the operative position of the support comes opposite a clip 13 on the fork 2. A bolt 18 is then pushed by hand, against the action of a spring 25, through an opening 33 in the clip and between the spokes 19 of the wheel, a spring-urged disc 27 then snapping into a recess in the bolt, whereby the support and wheel are both locked. The bolt 18 is released by a key, and a spring 7 raises the support which is held in the inoperative position by a hook-shaped suspender on the lower end of the mudguard.
