Abstract
504,893. Electric incandescent lamps. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. Oct. 1, 1938, No. 28593. Convention date, Oct. 4, 1937. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (ii)] A gas-filled lamp with a filling-gas having an operating pressure in excess of 2 atmospheres within a bulb of diameter in excess of 20 mm., preferably in excess of 25 mm., is surrounded by a second bulb which may be filled with gas, the space between the two bulbs or the pressure in the space being so proportioned that in the event of the inner bulb bursting the pressure existing in the outer bulb is from 0À25 to 1 atmosphere. In an example, the inner bulb has a diameter of 30 mm. and contains a mixture of 90 per cent argon and 10 per cent nitrogen at a pressure of 5 atmospheres ; the surrounding bulb has a diameter of 90 mm., and the space between 'the bulbs contains nitrogen at a pressure of 60 cm. of mercury. The inner bulb may be made of glass.
