Convention date, Nov. 2, 1934. [Class 39 (ii)] An electric incandescent lamp with a gas filling consisting wholly or mainly of krypton, xenon, or a mixture of these gases, within a bulb having an internal volume, expressed in cubic centimetres, of the order of magnitude of the operating wattage of the lamp + 25, is provided with a screen 8 situated between the cap 2 and filament 3 in a plane normal, or substantially normal, to the axis of the lamp, the diameter of the screen being equal to, or slightly less than, the diameter of the junction between the cap and the bulb, whereby the useful light flux is increased without appreciably affecting the distribution of the light. In the example the screen 8 is mounted on the stem tube 6 and is provided with a reflecting-surface on the side facing the filament.
