Abstract
440,956. Multiple-filament electric lamps. DICKER, S. G. S., 20, Holborn, London.-(Naamlooze Vennootschap Splendor Gloeilampenfabriek ; Nymegen, Holland) June 7, 1934, No. 16931. [Class 39 (ii)] In an electric incandescent lamp for motor-car headlights wherein a V-shaped main filament extends symmetrically with respect to, and in a plane passing through, the lamp axis, and an auxiliary filament lies in a plane normal to that of the main filament, the auxiliary filament 3 is situated on one side of the plane of the main filament 4. The auxiliary filament 3 may be V-shaped and arranged in such a manner that the opening of the V-faces the plane in which the main filament 4 extends. The plane in which the auxiliary filament lies may be at a smaller distance from the cap 2 than the main filament. The bulb 1 may be spherical or ellipsoidal and, in the latter instance, may be provided at its frontal portion with circular or other corrugations. The example shows a spherical bulb, with a part of the main filament 4 lying at the centre of the bulb. The cap 2 is preferably marked to enable the lamp to be secured in the right position in a reflector.
