Abstract
390,278. Electric incandescent lamps. DICKER, S. G. S., 20, Holborn, London.-(Naamlooze Vennootschap Philips' Gloeilampenfabrieken; 13D, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland.) Jan. 15, 1932, No. 1276. [Class 39 (ii).] An electric incandescent lamp for vehicles, particularly automobiles, is provided with a filament 3, Fig. 3, co-operating with a concave screen 7 arranged within the bulb in such manner that the plane of opening of the screen is intersected at an acute angle by the axis of the lamp, the angle in the example being about 12‹. The opening plane of the screen may, as shown in Fig. 3, be perpendicular to the vertical plane extending through the axis of the lamp, or at an angle thereto, Fig. 5, the resultant light beams being shown in Figs. 4 and 6, respectively. In addition to the filament 13, Fig. 5, co-operating with the screen 15, a major filament 12 may be arranged at the focus of the reflector 14 to produce a horizontal beam of light. The screen may have either a dull or reflecting surface, and may be of any concave shape.
