Abstract
515,091. Electric incandescent lamps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. May 18, 1938, No.14840. Convention date, May 19, 1937. [Class 39 (ii)] An electric lamp bulb or enclosure such as described in Specification 479,258, comprises a reflector 11 and a cover 12 both made of pressed glass and fused together. The cover is positioned concentrically with respect to the reflector by an annular ridge 28 on one engaging a corresponding recess on the other, and angular relationship is secured by a radial lug and co-operating recess. A reflecting surface 14 may be furnished by vaporizing, as described in Specification 492,928, [Group II], aluminium on to the part 11 prior to sealing the parts together. A recess 27 in the part 10 prevents' the heat during the sealing operation from damaging the surface 14. The filament 23 and its supporting wires are held in a jig located against a shoulder 42 on the reflector whilst the wires are secured in the portions 18 of the terminals as described in Specifications 471,301 and 502,551, [both in Group XXXVI], thus locating the filament at the focal point of the mirror. An outer shoulder 34 facilitates accurate mounting of the complete lamp as described in Specification 515,211. The cover 12 may be formed on its inner surface as a fluted lens. or with prisms or facets or it may be frosted.
