Abstract

523,215. Reflectors. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. Dec. 28, 1938, No. 37679. Convention date, Dec. 31, 1937. [Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv)] A bell - shaped reflector is, to produce uniform illumination, formed with hollow rib - divided facets built up in cross-section from a plurality of smoothly merging curves whose respective degrees of curvature decrease towards the margins of the facets. The section of each facet may be a circular arc having on either side a circular arc of less curvature The reflector shown is an internally silvered glass bulb having a high pressure mercury vapour discharge lamp mounted therein, the lower end F of the discharge column coinciding with the focus of parabolic faceted walls 8, a neck portion 2 merged with its reflecting portion, a faceted metallic plate 12 covering a top aperture therein and suspended from the pole wire 6, and a clear bottom portion 1. Alternatively the lamp may be a filament one with its filament in or perpendicular to the axis of the reflector and the parabolic portion may be faceted downwardly as well as circularly and surmounted by a conical or spherical reflector also faceted. The reflector may be used with irradiation or shop window lamps.
