Leading-in wires; residual gases. - To diminish the risk of arcing in gas-filled bulbs, and to enable argon to be used as the filling, the filament leads are separated at the point of attachment to the filament bv a distance at least one and a half times that in normal lamps, and at the same time to maintain an even light distribution the envelope of the bulb is of a light-diffusing character. In the bulb shown the filament is laid practically straight instead of in a broken circle as in normal bulbs. A doubly spiralled filament may be used. The form of filament shown in Specification 19729/14 is referred to.
