Abstract

486,418. Discharge lamps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Feb. 18, 1938, No. 5130. Convention date, Feb. 20, 1937. [Class 39 (i)] In a discharge lamp having an incandescent filament in series with the discharge the filament 11 is arranged inside an elongated bulb 9 enclosed in the discharge envelope 1. One terminal of the filament is connected by a conductor 5 to one of the discharge electrodes 3, the electrodes and the end of the bulb being supported by a wire 6 sealed into the pip. The other end of the bulb is supported in a tubular extension 12 of the pinch of the discharge envelope 1, in which it may be packed with glass wool. In a modification this end of the bulb is sealed into the pinch.
