Abstract
639,604. Electric incandescent lamps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Oct. 17, 1947, No. 27853. Convention date, Oct. 19, 1946. [Class 39 (ii)] A tubular lamp of the kind provided with a cap and leading-in wires at one end only has a rigid filament support comprising a strip of metal 8, preferably of V-shaped section, which is located adjacent to the inner wall of the tube and welded at one end to a lead-in wire 7, the other end being provided with an offset extension 9 connected to one end of the filament 10, and an integral flat extension 14 which is bent around to form a resilient semicircular spring having an unflexed diameter slightly larger than that of the interior of the tube, with which it is engaged. The filament is connected under slight tension, between the offset extension 9 and a short lead-in wire 4, and has a number of intermediate supporting wires 11 mounted in glass beads 12 which are fusion sealed to the conductor 8.
