Abstract
605,649. Electric incandescent lamps with cut-outs. AXBERG, G. F., ANDERSSON, H. V., and LUMALAMPAN AKTIEBOLAG. Jan. 2, 1946, No. 144. [Class 39(ii)] A lamp for use more particularly in a series lighting system is provided with a normally non - conducting shunt comprising a strip or bridge 7, for example of oxidised aluminium, with its ends pinched tightly around the lead-in wires 2, 5, thereby serving as a mount for the filament 3 and dispensing with the usual glass stem, the lower ends of the lead-in wires being sealed into the lower part of the wall of the bulb 8. Alternatively an insulating oxide coating may be applied to the parts of the lead-in wires to which a metal bridge is clamped, or the latter may also be oxidised. The metal bridge may serve as a mounting for the lower end of a central supporting wire when a long filament of inverted V-shape is employed.
