Abstract
348,670. Electric incandescent lamps. JACKSON, L. MELLERSH-, 28, Southampton Buildings, L o n d o n.- (Siemens Schuckertwerke Akt.-Ges. ; Siemensstadt, Berlin.) Dec. 16, 1929, No. 38504. [Class 39 (ii).] In a lamp for use in a firedamp environment, having the space between concentric globes 1, 3 filled with a gas, the connection between the globes is easily breakable at one or more points to ensure that, upon breakage of the lamp, the gas will enter the inner bulb to extinguish the filament before the bulb is destroyed. The connection may consist of a glass tube 5 which is more easily destroyed than the outer globe. Leading-in wires 6, 7 are weakened at certain points so that upon fracture they will break the filament circuit. The gas may consist of oxygen, or air at high pressure, or vapour of carbon tetrachloride. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 189,847 and 305,790, [both in Class 39 (ii), Electric lamps, Incandescent].
