Residual gases. - To prolong the Life of tungsten filaments a zirconium compound is placed within lamp bulbs. The compound may be placed in a capsule 9 secured in the sealing-off tube by means of glasswool 10, or it may be placed loosely in the bulb, or mixed with a binder, for example cellulose acetate, and applied to the filament-supporting or the leading-in wires. Specifications 10918/13 and 182,699 are referred to.
