1435979 Incandescent lamps PATENT - TREUHAND - GES FUR ELEKTRISCHE GLUHALAMPEN mbH 7 Sept 1973 [19 Sept 1972 16 March 1973] 42232/73, Heading H1F A halogen incandescent lamp comprises a tubular envelope 1, e.g. of quartz, with a singleended pinch seal 4 into which a lead-in wire arrangement 5, 6 and 7 is sealed, and a coiled filament 9 held in an M-shape by a mount including two outer support wires 10 and a shorter central support wire 11, and a bridge 8, e.g. of quartz, in which the support wires 10, 11 and lead-in wires 5 are sealed. The ends of the support wires 10, 11 are hook-shaped and the pinch-seal 4 may have a reference plane (4<SP>1</SP>) and a shoulder (12) formed on opposite broad sides thereof to facilitate insertion and retention in a socket, Fig. 1b (not shown). Alternatively, Fig. 2 (not shown), the pinch-seal 4 is plain and is cemented into a ceramic pin base in which at least one of the base pins includes a fuse disposed therein. As shown in Fig. 3b a lower tubular portion 18 of the envelope may extend downwards from the pinch-seal 4 to contain a fuse 19 connected to one of the lead-in wires, and may be cemented to a screw or bayonet type base. In the Fig. 5 arrangement the lamp is enclosed in a protective envelope 21 whose end is fitted together with the end of tubular portion 18 into a screw or bayonet type base by cement. The lamp may be provided with either a clear or a frosted envelope.
