Abstract

1282749 Electric incandescent lamps GTE SYLVANIA Inc 11 Dec 1969 [13 Dec 1968] 60603/69 Heading H1F The planar filament 7 of a quartz halogen lamp is suspended between a pair of tubular quartz bridges 4, 5 having slots at each end for engagement with the lead-in rods 2, 3. The bridge 5 and the ends 12 of the filament are secured in position by compressive coils 6, 13 encircling the rods 2, 3, and the bridge 4 is secured by bending the ends of the rods towards one another so that they enter the bore of the tube. The filament is connected to the bridges by tungsten support wires 9 which extend through diametral holes in the bridges and are provided with loops 10 which can be squeezed to draw up any slack in the filament when the lamp is being made.
