Abstract
545,103. Electric incandescent lamps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. May 23, 1941, No. 6614. Convention date, May 24, 1940. [Class 39 (ii)] Filaments, attaching. In a heavy-current lamp such as is used for motor-car headlights, the nickel leading-in wire is flattened and given a truncated wedge formation 27, 28, Fig. 4, near its end ; the end of the tungsten filament is laid across the flat part 27 and an electric current passed through the joint whereupon the filament.sinks into the molten surface of the nickel which flows up on each side of the filament. As used in a two-filament lamp, Fig. 2, with four leading-in wires one, 21, of which is an L-shaped branch from the common lead-in wire 15, the wedge-formation face in opposite directions.
