Abstract

173,934. British Thomson - Houston Co., Ltd., (General Electric Co.). Nov. 4, 1920. Filaments, supports for. -Filaments of the type having a number of straight parallel coils are provided with means for preventing twisting or change of position while the lamp is lighted. A middle bend 6 of the filament passes, in the lamp shown in Fig. 1, over an " anchor " 7 on an insulating piece 8 mounted on the leads 2. To prevent twisting, the lower bends 5 are guided in anchor loops 9. In other forms, such as that shown in Fig. 3, the bend 6 is suspended by an anchor from a bridge insulated from the leads, and the bends 5 are connected to pieces which are movable vertically in the plane of the filament but cannot move in any other direction.
