Abstract
153,153. Mascarenhas, E. G. Oct. 3, 1919. Multiple-filament lamps. - Two or more filaments of equal or unequal candle-power are arranged in a plane at right-angles to the axis of the lamp. Each filament has a separate leading-in wire 4, 5, &c., and a common return wire 15, and may be used independently according to the position of a switch-arm 7 at the base. One terminal is the base itself 2, and the other is an insulated contact 3 on the base, on which is mounted the switch-arm 7. This may be connected to any one of a number of studs 8, 9, &c. connected with the leading-in wires 4, 5, &c. A modification makes use of the contact 3 as the terminal of one leading-in wire so that the number of studs required is one less than the number of filaments.
