Abstract

175,025. British Thomson - Houston Co., Ltd., (General Electric Co.). Nov. 4, 1920. Filaments supports for.- Filaments of the type having a number of straight parallel coils are provided with means for preventing twisting or change of position while the lamp is lighted. A molybdenum wire bridgepiece 14, Fig. 1, having a piece of glass 13 at its centre connects the ends of the leads 2. The middle bend 6 is held by means of an " anchor " 12 of molybdenum embedded in the piece 13. The intermediate bends 5 are resiliently supported by spring anchors 7 attached to coil springs 8 of tungsten and guided by coils 9 in supports 10. Twisting of the filament is prevented in the lamp shown in Fig. 3 by members 19, 20 of molybdenum each formed with a coil acting as guide for the straight portion of the other, the wires 20 being sealed into the stem. In another construction, Fig. 4, anchors 23 of molybdenum are embedded in a glass support 24 journaled in loops at the ends of molybdenum wires 27.
