Abstract
176,309. Calderara, M. March 3, 1921, [Convention date]. Repairing; filaments, supports for; leading- in wires.-In renewing filaments a small hole is made in the bulb at the tip 2, the old filament is removed and the end of the glass stem broken off, and a new complementary stem part 6 with the new filament 8 attached is passed through the hole 2, this being facilitated by forming loops 13 in the radial supporting-wires 9, Fig. 2, which enable the wire support to fold umbrellawise. The bulb may be made originally with its stem in two parts, one of which is removable to facilitate renewal of the filament. New leading-wires 10 have their ends 11 coiled and threaded on to the permanent leading-in wires 5, to which they are secured by soldering, welding, or compressing the coils. The last operation may be effected by drawing out the coils longitudinally. Circular filaments may be replaced by zig-zag filaments. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), the filament and its supporting-wires may be formed as shown in Fig. 4 (Cancelled), and passed through the hole 2 by a helical movement. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
