Abstract

23,332. " Z " Electric Lamp Manufacturing Co., and Hoge, F. Oct. 8. Filaments, supports for; leading- in wires.-A glass bead C, Fig. 3, carrying anchor wires or tubes for supporting t h e filament and threaded loosely over the stem E, is held resiliently by the leading-in wires. Each leading-in wire F may be twisted round and welded electrically to one arm of a double anchor the other arm of which is connected to the filament. The stem may be of glass or metal with or without springs. The beads are made by winding a heated glass rod over a spring B, Fig. 1, threaded on a metal rod slightly thinner than the lamp stem. The spring and attached bead, after annealing, are placed on a slightly tapering metal rod, and the heated ends of the anchors are inserted, the spring being then pulled out; or a number of beads may be formed on a single spring and provided with anchors before removing the spring.
