Abstract

504,703. Gas or oil fired heatradiating elements. GIBBONS BROS., Ltd., and WEBB, A. W. OGILVY-. Sept. 15, 1938, No. 26844. [Class 51 (i)] A gas or oil fired heat-radiating element comprises an inner perforated tube 6 closed at its inner end and provided at its outer end with a cap 7 to which is connected a valve-controlled pipe 8 of smaller cross-sectional area than the tube 6 for supplying air under pressure. The tube 6 is surrounded in spaced relation by an outer tube 5 to which gas or oil vapour is supplied through a valve-controlled pipe 11 of less cross-sectional area than the tube 5. Combustion is effected in the annular space between the tubes to which the air is supplied through perforations 15 and the combustion products are exhausted through a pipe 14. In a modification (not shown) the gas is supplied to the outer tube and combustion products exhausted therefrom at the opposite ends to those shown in the Figure. The outer tube may be enlarged at one end to increase the heat radiation.
