Classes 64 (1), 64 (3) and 123 (3). In a gas or vapour heater in which the gas or vapour, e.g. air or steam, flows through tubes 1 heated on one side by radiation from a combustion chamber 1 and on the other side by contact with combustion gases, the tubes carry secondary heat exchange surfaces 7 on that side only that is remote from the combustion chamber 1. The tubes are arranged in contact with one another to form a square or cylindrical combustion chamber surrounded by an annular return flue 5. The surfaces 7 may be channelshaped longitudinal fins welded to the tubes, or radial pin fins.
