[Class 82 (i)] A high-speed tool steel contains from 1À0 to 1À6 per cent carbon, from 1-0 to 6À0 per cent chromium, from 1À0 to less than 5À0 per cent molybdenum, and from 2À0 to 6À0 per cent vanadium, the remainder consisting of iron with normal impurities and deoxidation residues. Cobalt up to 5À0 per cent, and tungsten in amount at least equal to 50 per cent of the molybdenum content and lying between 1À0 and 4À0 per cent may also be present.
