Abstract
500,909. Soldering or welding bicycle tubes. THIPLEX SOC. ANON. Jun. 24, 1938, No. 2268. Convention date, Jan. 23, 1937. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] The tubes of bicycle frames are connected by providing sleeves on the ends of the tubes and hard-soldering the sleeves to the ends of the tubes and also to the sleeves on the abutting tubes so that the joint resembles a muff connection. The sleeves C, D of the steering- column tubes A, B are shrunk on the tubes, the sleeve C hard soldered to the tube A at F, and the sleeve D simultaneously hard soldered to the tube B and also to the sleeve C. Sleeves K, L, M are similarly hard soldered to the tubes J, H, C and to the pedal bearing sleeve O. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states that the joint may be produced by welding. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
