Abstract
500,444. Sizes for paper &c. JOHNSON, G. W. (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.) Oct. 22, 1937, No. 28887. [Class 121] [Also in Group VIII] Paper, cardboard, &c., e.g. for printing, is treated with solutions of alkyl cellulose glycollic acids, e.g. prepared by condensing alkylated alkali cellulose with mono-chloracetic acid ; pigments, e.g. titanium dioxide and barium sulphate with blanc fixe and talc, may be suspended therein, and starch, casein, gelatine, or montanic acid and its sodium salt may be added. Aluminium sulphate solution may be applied to the coated paper by -immersion or spraying.
