Abstract

462,254. Paper containing cellulose derivatives. GALE, P. T., HAMILTON, F., REYNOLDS, R. J. W., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Sept. 4, 1935, No. 24699. [Class 96] Paper, which may simulate parchment, is made from pulp to which has been added inorganic cellulose esters, e.g. the sulphate, phosphate, or nitrate insoluble in organic solvents and incompletely soluble in 5 per cent caustic soda under ordinary conditions, but dissolving therein by cooling, by colloid mill treatment, or by the action of dispersing agents &c. In an example, 400 lbs. of bleached sulphite pulp are beaten 1¢ hrs., 200 lbs. of cellulose sulphate, in solution, slowly added, and the pulp neutralized with sulphuric acid. Specifications 410,152, 410,153, and 420,529, [all in Group IV], are referred to.
