Abstract
259,102. Jahl, A. Nov. 5, 1925, [Convention date]. Barium sulphate or " Blanc Fixe " is prepared pure by precipitation with alkali sulphate from an aqueous solution of barium sulphide containing more molecules of hydrosulphide than hydrooxide. To effect this, 10 to 15 per cent of the sulphide is converted into hydrosulphide by the addition of the. requisite quantity of an acid, or acid salt such as a bicarbonate or magnesium chloride &c., and this may be done before or during the precipitation of the sulphate.
