Abstract

Diarylguanidines are prepared by desulphurizing diarylthioureas in alcoholic solution in the presence of an ammonium salt using lead carbonate, white lead or basic lead carbonate as the desulphurizing agent. Before filtering off the lead sulphide formed, the alcohol is replaced by boiling water; after filtration, the solution of the diarylguanidine salt is run into hot dilute caustic alkali to set free the base. Specification 199,354 is referred to.
