Abstract

Coating masses comprise a water-soluble cellulose ether, the viscosity of which in a 2 per cent aqueous solution is at least 200 cp., and fibres, preferably present in amount at least 30 per cent calculated on the dry mass. Examples are given of masses containing (1) mechanical pine-wood pulp and a water-soluble methyl cellulose of viscosity 3000 cp., (2) mechanical pine-wood pulp, kaolin, and a water-soluble methyloxyethyl cellulose of viscosity 1400 cp., (3) ground wood and a water-soluble methyl cellulose of viscosity 1200 cp., and (4) ground wood, kaolin and a water soluble sodium cellulose glycollate of viscosity 800 cp. The viscosity measurements are taken in 2 per cent aqueous solution. Specification 302,191, [Class 2 (ii)], is referred to.
