Abstract
495,866. Magnetic cores for highfrequency inductances. STEATIT-MAGNESIA AKT.-GES. Feb. 22, 1937, Nos. 5336 and 5337. Convention dates, Feb. 22, 1936 and Feb. 29, 1936. [Class 38 (ii)] Magnetic cores or parts thereof for highfrequency inductances are made from a brittle alloy, e.g. ferro-silicon in which the silicon content is 8-20 per cent and preferably 10 per cent which is ground to splintery particles not greater than À06 mm. in size and mixed with at least 15 per cent by volume of an insulating binder, e.g. a low-loss artificial resin such as that known under the Registered Trade Mark " Trolitul," the particles then being " agglomerated ", i.e. bound together into groups to form larger grains by adding a trace of a solvent to the binder and subsequently heating. The agglomerated mass is then moulded in a dry condition into cores or parts of cores of conventional forms such as plain cylindrical prismatic, cotton-reel or pot-shaped, H- or E-shaped. In the more complicated forms, the winding limb b, Figs. 2 and 4, may be formed from carbonyl iron powder and may be either integral with or separate from the other limbs or flanges a, d which are made of material as above described.
