495,647. Heating air; doors and grates for stoves. ALLIED IRONFOUNDERS, Ltd., and SCOTT, C. L. May 14, 1937, No. 13704. [Class 64 (i)] [Also in Group XI] A domestic heating stove or convection heater burning solid fuel has air ducts 3 in the back and sides with sloping roofs 7 to divert air outwardly from the room wall together with a grate having some of its bars reciprocatable and one or more doors 16 sliding vertically in a frame at the front and counterbalanced by a weight at the end of a chain or cord passing over a pulley 20. Air is admitted to the ducts through vents at the corners of the base and issues forwardly and upwardly through vents 6 along the top and other vents at the sides. To render the doors air-tight when closed, locking mechanism 26, 27 forces them downwardly and inwardly. The ashpit door 28 hinged at a pivot 29 is locked by similar mechanism 31 and has an air controlling spin wheel 30. The grate bars are in two groups 2, 11 mounted respectively in fixed and movable frames and capable of relative oscillation by a lever 25 operating a crank 22 acting on one of the frames by means of a fork 25a.
