Abstract
494,269. Hydraulic transmission of power. ALLGEMEINE ELEKTRICITATSGES. April 24, 1937, No. 11813. Convention date, April 24, 1936. [Class 69 (ii)] In a multi-stage vehicle or other transmission gear including a F÷ttinger torqueconverter in which changing is effected automatically in accordance with the running or output speed and the throttle setting of the engine driving through the gear, the automatic change is effected by a governor driven by the output shaft, the sensitivity of which governor is varied in accordance with the throttle setting. In one form, the torque-converter 3 is provided with a mechanical clutch 10, 11 giving a direct drive and actuated through rod gear 12 and disc 13 by a centrifugal governor 14 on the output shaft 2, the tension of the spring 15 of the governor being varied through sleeve 16 and lever 17 by movement of the accelerator pedal 18. The mechanical clutch may be replaced by a hydraulic coupling, or a hydraulic coupling may be provided in addition to the mechanical clutch ; the gear may comprise a number of torque-converters.
