Abstract

491,263. Sound-reproducing devices. HAUSDORF, E. May 3, 1937, No. 12579. [Class 40 (iv)] In a magnet assembly, particularly for telephone receivers, a magnetic member 2 has the shape of an arch bounded by parallel planes, a gap 4 for the moving coil 8 is formed in the crown portion of the arch and the centre polepiece 3 is mounted in a plate member 1 extending across the base of the arch-shaped member 2. A diaphragm 7, secured to the coil 8, is supported by a ring 5 which may be permanently secured to the member 2 by webs 6 or may be detachably mounted on the magnet assembly. The space between the gap 4 and the plate 1 may be partially or wholly enclosed by side plates of a non-magnetic material to form a resonating chamber. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the resonator is formed by a member attached to the under surface of the upper portion of the member 2. Arrangements are described in which the baseplate 1, arched member 2, and the centre polepiece 3 are selectively of soft iron or of a magnetic material.
