Abstract

910,200. Transducers. BESSON & PARTNER Ltd., A. P. April 28, 1961 [April 28, 1960], No. 14960/60. Class 40 (4). An electromagnetic transducer comprises an armature 8, Fig. 2, clamped by means of lowpermeability spacers 9 and 10 between the extensions 6 and 7 of polepieces 2 and 3. The free end of the armature 8 lies midway between the extensions 4 and 5 of the polepieces. A coil (not shown) is placed loosely round armature 8 and the armature is coupled to a diaphragm in the conventional manner. Small permanent magnets 11 and 12 replace the conventional single magnet, and are arranged between the polepieces so that each is substantially aligned with the extensions 4, 5 and 6, 7 so as to minimize the stray flux from the magnet system. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 3, the polepieces are of substantially rectangular form the armature being clamped under the offset portion 21 of polepiece 19 so that it is free to vibrate between the offset portions 20 and 23 of polepieces 18 and 19, the diaphragm being attached to the flanges on the lower side of dished base 27.
