[Class 122 (v)] Packing, which is especially applicable for shock-absorbers for aeroplanes, comprises alternate rings of a resilient material, such as rubber, and a material, such as leather, which absorbs lubricant. As shown, the shock-absorber cylinder a, with piston-rod d, is racked by rubber rings g of conical form, alternating with leather rings i of the same shape. Bevelled end rings k, k<1> are provided, and a middle ring m of triangular section, grooved to form a chamber n for lubricant. The packing is confined between a washer b and a gland c. Lubricant is introduced through an orifice f.
