Abstract
485,233. Annealing - boxes; alloys. BARME, F. March 23,1937, No. 8549. [Classes 72 and 82 (i)] A thin-walled annealing-pot or cover a is provided with an external protective covering b in the form of net-work, the meshes of the net-work being filled with a refractory material c of good thermal conductivity. The pot or cover may be made of cast steel, wrought iron or of an iron alloy containing 25 per cent of chromium, 20 of nickel and 1 of carbon, and the net-work of that alloy or of wrought iron. The bottom of the pot may be set back with respect to the edge a<1> to form a cavity into the net-work b and the material c may be placed. When applied to a cover, the latter may be provided with reinforcing ribs, the net-work c being placed over the ribs as well as the rest of the cover.
