[Class 40 (v)] An amplifier has an impedance network common to the grid and anode circuits producing negative feedback, comprising a variable resistance 32 for controlling gain in parallel with an inductance 22 and grid-bias resistance 21. A blocking condenser 31 is included in series with resistance 32 to exclude direct current and, in the case where a screen-grid valve is used, the screen supply may include a choke 25 having a common core with the inductance 22.
