Class 40 (6) In a two-valve amplifier in which negative feedback of adjustable amount is provided by connecting the cathode of the first valve 1 to a variable tap on the output transformer 10, which is fed from the anode circuit of the second valve 2, positive feed back is applied to the transformer by means of a coupling winding 4 connected in the anode circuit of the valve 1. This reduces the damping on the transformer due to the cathode impedance of the valve 1 and also tends to balance out the saturating effect of the cathode current upon the core. In order to improve the response at the higher frequencies, resistances 14, 16 may be connected respectively in series in the anode circuit of the valve 1 and in the grid circuit of the valve 2. and condensers C1, 2 as shown.
